KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As many as 10 teens were involved in a disturbance Sunday night at Kansas’ only juvenile correctional facility in Topeka, officials said.

Although no one was hurt in the incident, the teens, ranging in age from 17-19, damaged three living units, the Kansas Department of Corrections said in a news release.

Photos provided by the corrections department show documents, furniture and office equipment scattered in common areas.

“This isn’t normal for our facility, the fact that no injuries occurred is a credit to the professionalism and response of our staff,” said Randy Bowman, deputy secretary of juvenile services.
