KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a deadly crash after a police pursuit in Cass County.

A tweet from MSHP Troop A just before 1 p.m. Tuesday said they were on the scene of a crash on Route J near 203rd Street.

Cass County Sheriff’s Office deputies pursued a vehicle stolen out of Overland Park around 12:15 p.m. near East 287th Street and South Buford Road, a department spokesperson said.

The driver of the stolen pickup truck, later identified Tuesday as 37-year-old Sarah Hundley, of Belton, hit another vehicle and was ejected when the stolen vehicle rolled.

Although deputies performed CPR on the driver until medical personnel arrived, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four passengers in the other car suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital as a precaution, the highway patrol said.

MSHP said its major crash investigation unit would handle the investigation of the deadly wreck.

Route J is expected to be shut down between 203rd Street and Beth Lee Drive for an undetermined amount of time, MSHP said.
