A man who led Ray county deputies, and the Missouri Highway Patrol on a high speed chase, then fired at officers was shot and killed Saturday night.

Sgt. Bill Lowe of the Missouri Highway Patrol says Ray County tried to stop 42-year-old Jeremy J. Sinclair of Tina, Mo. who was driving a white Honda, possibly a stolen vehicle from Georgia about 11 p.m.

Sinclair drove off, and deputies began a chase, which moved into Clay County.

Ray County dropped out, and the Highway Patrol picked up the chase, reaching speeds of 80 miles an hour.

After about 40 minutes, Sinclair pulled into La Benite Park in Sugar Creek, and got out of the vehicle and ran into the Missouri river.

Troopers ordered him to surrender, but after a few minutes, Sinclair fired at officers, who returned fire and killed him.

No other injuries were reported. The investigation continues.
