KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The driver of a pickup truck and a child were injured in a crash involving a school bus Friday afternoon, the Clinton County, Missouri, Sheriff’s Office said.

The crash, which involved a Lathrop R-II School District bus, happened around 4 p.m. just east of Lathrop on Missouri 116.

One child on the bus suffered minor injuries, according to the Clinton County Sheriff's Office.

The driver of the pickup suffered “severe” injuries and was taken to the hospital after being extricated from the truck.

The school district said via social media "all students are okay" and were being cared for by a nearby day care while law enforcement investigated the crash.

After approximately an hour, Missouri 116 was reopened and parents were allowed to pick up their children from the day care.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Tri-County Ambulance District and Lathrop Fire District assisted with the crash.
