KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two children under the age of three possibly drowned Saturday night, according to Jackson County, Missouri, Sheriff Darryl Forté.
Forté wrote that the "death investigation" is ongoing for a 1-year-old and a 2-year-old.
Deputies were dispatched at 4:12 p.m. and found the children unresponsive in a residential swimming pool near Smart and Bob White.
Both children were transported to an area hospital before they were pronounced deceased.

"Tragic outcome for our community but all avenues of investigation are being explored," Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker wrote in a tweet.
This incident is under investigation.
