KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two people were hurt and multiple vehicles were hit by gunfire, including a school bus, in a gun battle Thursday afternoon.
Capt. Lionel Colon with the Kansas City Police Department said around 4:45 p.m. there was a gun battle at East 45th Street and Elmwood Avenue. During the shooting, some vehicles were hit by gunfire. A man and a woman were shot, but their injuries are not life-threatening.
A school bus was also hit by a bullet during the shooting. Colon said no students were injured.
Investigators are collecting evidence and talking with witnesses at the scene.
