UPDATE, 9:28 p.m., June 30 | Police have identified the driver of the Ford Mustang as 30-year-old Kelly Jackson, of Kansas City, Missouri, and the back seat passenger as Day’drina Whitmire, 22, of Independence.

UPDATE: 8:00 a.m. Police say two people were killed, and a third suffered critical injuries in the crash.

Witnesses say a blue Ford Mustang convertible and a four door white vehicle were traveling west on Truman Road at a high rate of speed.

The Mustang lost control, went off the roadway and into the side of a building at 2101 Truman Road.

The driver and rear passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

A front seat passenger suffered critical injuries.

EARLIER Two people were killed when a vehicle crashed into a building at Truman Road and Brooklyn Avenue early Saturday morning.

Police were called to the scene about 2 a.m. Saturday on a crash.

Upon arrival officers discovered two people dead at the scene.

No word on the cause of the crash.
