KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two pedestrians were struck, and one killed, on U.S. 71 Highway near Bannister Road early Sunday.
Police were called to the scene shortly after 5 a.m. on a reported pedestrian crash.
Officers said one person was pronounced dead at the scene, and one was transported to an area hospital.
The deceased victim was identified Monday as 48-year-old Juan A. Sanchez of Kansas City, Missouri.
The injured victim was upgraded to serious from critical condition Monday.
Police said Sanchez was changing a tire when the crash happened.
Northbound 71Highway was shut down, while the investigation gets underway.
