KANSAS CITY, Mo. — UMKC students offered free dental screenings today.
Patients walked in to see if they qualified for deep cleanings or needed simple cavities filled. Those who chose to pursue treatment received a discounted rate.
Students, like Dylan Weber, said that offering the screenings for free encourages people to have their teeth checked if they haven’t had a cleaning in a while.
"You don't want anything to build up and definitely be proactive and treat things when they're small,” Weber said.
Dental students also said such opportunities are important for them to graduate and pursue their licenses. They use the practice for their board exams.
