COLUMBIA, Mo. — The University of Missouri System and MU Health Care are teaming up with German health care technology maker Siemens.

Leaders of the four-campus system announced the partnership Friday with Siemens Healthineers.

As part of a 10-year partnership agreement, Siemens will share medical technology with the System.

The System plans to use new technology to improve health care, including in rural Missouri. Resources also will be used for research and educating medical students at the system's four universities.

UM System President Mun Choi cited a virtual scanning cockpit as an example. Choi says the software will allow radiology specialists in Columbia to connect remotely to scanners across the state.

A release from the system says the partnership is valued at $133 million.
