KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- As the busy holiday shipping season approaches, UPS has announced it will be hiring thousands of new employees in the Kansas City area to shore up its staff.
There are 2,100 jobs available, which include both full-time and part-time position. They include:
- More than 900 package handlers
- Nearly 70 seasonal delivery drivers
- More than 700 driver-helpers
The company said it's not just possible to stay on with the UPS after a seasonal hire, but it's actually fairly common. More than a third of recent seasonal hires have stayed with the company afterward, a release said.
UPS is also planning to open a whole new permanent shipping facility out in Edgerton, Kansas, in southwestern Johnson County. This new operation will hire more than 400 employees for fulltime positions, the company's release said.
Pay for package handlers typically starts just above $10 per hour. There are benefits and bonuses available. Check upsjob.com for more specific info.
