KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City, Missouri Water Department has launched an investigation into who struck a 33-inch sewer main Monday, causing nearly 48 hours of wastewater overflow.
A release Friday said an unknown utility contractor struck the main near 4351 Blue Parkway at 11 a.m. Monday.
The strike caused a wastewater overflow that lasted until 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
A water department spokesperson said in a release that some of the spill entered a catch basin in Brush Creek during the heavy rains earlier this week, diluting the spill.
The water department is also investigating the damage to the main.
