ORIGINAL STORY, June 1 | Kansas City, Missouri, police are investigating a homicide that occurred about four blocks east of the Country Club Plaza on Sunday evening.

According to a tweet from police, dispatchers were notified of a shooting around 10:30 p.m. near East 46th Street and Warwick Boulevard.

When police arrived, they located a male victim suffering life-threatening injuries. Witnesses told police that three men ran from the scene after the shooting.

Police said Monday that the shooting did not involve any officers and that information circulating on social media was "inaccurate." Officers responded from a nearby location to render aid to the victim, according to police.

The shooting occurred while protests were taking place on the Plaza.
