KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police responded to three separate shootings overnight, marking a violent start to the day after Thanksgiving.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Friday, officers responded to the first shooting after a woman called police dispatch to say she was driving another woman who had been shot in the face to an area hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, who was not injured, said she and the victim were leaving a bar in the 1800 block of Paseo Boulevard when a suspect started shooting into their vehicle. She drove away from the 18th and Vine area and realized the passenger in her vehicle had been shot.

The driver then pulled over at the Shell Xpress Mart on 44th Street and Paseo Boulevard to wait for medical attention. An ambulance arrived and transported the victim to a hospital, where she was reported to be in stable condition.

A person of interest was identified in the shooting and taken into custody, police said.

Two other shootings happened just blocks apart at Cenex gas stations in Kansas City.

The first call came in around 1:50 a.m. at the gas station off 75th Street and Troost Avenue. A victim at the scene told police he had been shot a few blocks away, near 80th Street and Troost Avenue.

As police canvassed the area, they found a second victim who had also been shot. That person was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

Late Friday morning, police said a suspect had not been located.
