Police evacuated the Wal Mart at 8301 N. Church Road for about two hours overnight after a gunman ran into the store.

Officers were called to the Murphy Gas Station next to Wal Mart just after 11 p.m. on a person waving a gun, and as they arrived, the suspects saw the officers and tried to drive away.

Police stopped the car in front of Wal Mart, and one male ran into the store, as the officers took the driver into custody.

The Wal Mart was evacuated, and police later learned the suspect ran through the store as police figured out who he was and located him at home.

One pellet gun was recovered in the car, and both suspects were arrested.

The store was cleared before 1 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

Police Officers from Kansas City, Liberty, Smithville and Clay county were involved in the operation.
