Ninety veterans, including 38 WWII vets, boarded a plane Tuesday morning for a trip they wouldn't forget.

They're going to Washington, D.C. as part of an Honor Flight. There, they'll visit the memorials for the wars they fought in: WWII, Vietnam War, and the Korean War. The vets will also get to see Arlington Cemetery.

It was the first time many of the vets, who represent the four branches of the military, have taken the Honor Flight.

No doubt they were all excited and anxious to get to D.C., to reflect on their time in the service, and share the moment with other veterans who did the same.

"It means a lot because I've met other World War II veterans that I didn't know existed," WWII veteran Ellsworth Ware Jr. said. "So going on this flight will give me a chance to talk about some of my experiences and listen to some of theirs."

Ware told us he feels blessed because so many men who served alongside him didn't get this chance.

"I'm just glad that you were able to do something that people recognize and that they think about," he said.

The flight is courtesy of Heartland Honor Flight, an organization that has sent more than 1,000 veterans on this trip. Older veterans and WWII veterans get first priority.

The 90 vets will return from their trip Tuesday night and will be greeted by a big crowd of their friends, family and supporters.
