MERRIAM, Kan. -- Crews worked overnight to repair a broken water main along Johnson Drive in Merriam, closing multiple lanes to traffic through the early morning.
A spokesperson from Water One said a six-inch water line broke about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. The break cut off water to 10 homes along Mackey Street between 57th and Johnson Drive.
Workers shut down the middle two lanes of Johnson Drive east of Antioch to make the repairs, one eastbound and one westbound.
Before the lanes can reopen, crews have to refill a hole used to access the water main with asphalt and cover the project back up.
A crane arrived at the site of the water main break just before 5:30 a.m. with a new pipe.
