KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A water main break shut down northbound Interstate 35 on the north side of the downtown loop early Thursday morning.

Crews were called to eastbound Interstate 70 at the northbound I-35 split just before 5:30 a.m.

An eight-inch water main break at 610 May Street, just south of the highway, caused enough water to run onto the highway to create an issue.

Water officials said only one customer is affected by the main break, but motorists are not able to get to I-35 from I-70 at that intersection until the water can be shut off.
