KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The cloudy conditions Monday morning weren’t enough to block the smiles of hundreds of Kansas City families at Kauffman Stadium.

Several former Kansas City Royals players and members of the team’s charities gathered to prepare 250 Thanksgiving meals for area families.

The effort was a partnership with Price Chopper and C&C Produce. The Urban Neighborhoods Initiative, geared toward breaking the intergenerational cycle of poverty, helped select Kansas City families.
