UPDATE, March 16 | Officer Bryon Virtue, 30, of the Wellsville, Ks., Police Department, was traveling east on North 1800 Road, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
A car driven by 61-year-old Princess Jewel Anthony of Topeka, Kansas, crossed from the westbound lane into the eastbound lane.
The crash killed Anthony and Officer Virture.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the crash.
EARLIER | A Wellsville police officer was killed in a traffic accident in Douglas County, Kansas, on Saturday morning.
The Wellsville Police Department reported that Officer Bryon Virtue was killed in the crash.
Wellsville is about 45 minutes southwest of the metro.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Department is working the accident.
Services for Virtue are pending at this time.
