What you need to know ahead of Billy Joel's performance at Kauffman Stadium

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — When the lights turn on tonight at Kauffman Stadium, they won't shine on the Kansas City Royals.

Instead, the stadium will be aglow for the Piano Man. Billy Joel is performing the first concert at the stadium since 1979.

Joel's show begins at 8 p.m. There is no opening act.

The parking lot opens at 1 p.m. and costs $30 for cars, $45 for oversized vehicles and $60 for buses and RVs.

Concert-goers will go through metal detectors as they enter the stadium. Security will check purses and prohibits bags and backpacks.

Organizers suggest fans arrive at least an hour early to allow time to enter the stadium and get to your seat prior to the start of the show.

The Royals said tonight's concert is a sign of things to come.

The team plans to host two to three acts a year moving forward.
