WICHITA, Kan. — A teenage girl in Wichita was horrified when she woke up in the middle of the night to see a complete stranger standing over herwhile she slept.
The stranger took off, but was caught on camera.
Security cameras caught the stranger standing over sleeping Aniyah Robinson at around 2:30 a.m. Friday in her own home.
Once she opened her eyes, the teenager said she felt like she was in a scene from a movie.
"It scared me because of the fact that somebody was sitting over watching me that I didn't know. It's just scary," the teen said.
"She was screaming and yelling, saying, 'Mom, somebody is in the house,'" her mother, Angel Robinson recalled.
Angel Robinson made sure her two-year-old daughter and Aniyah were safe in a room before calling her mother and police for help.
"She says, 'Hey mom, he's in the house right now.' I said, 'Right now?' I said I'm on the way because I'm not thinking about the weapons or nothing, I was thinking he was going to get a beat down," grandmother Carol Robinson said.
The Wichita Police Department responded quickly, but the intruder was already gone.
It is unclear how the stranger entered the home, but the family's Ring cameras caught him walking around the house and going into bedrooms.
No one was hurt and the stranger didn't steal anything.
"That I think is scarier because what did you want? I don't know what you want, are you going to come back?" Angel Robinson asked.
"Yeah, it was just disbelief and I don't know something else could've happened. He could've grabbed me or anything," Aniyah added.
The Robinson family hopes a screenshot of the stranger is clear enough so that someone can recognize who was in their home and contact police.
"You don't know if he's done this before and you'd never know. I mean, next time it might be something different or you know who knows what he's thinking," the mother said.
The intruder still had not been caught as of Wednesday, May 13.
