OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Kelli Ridgway was arrested Thursday in connection with the theft of funds from a Shawnee Mission elementary school’s parent-teacher organization.

Ridgway, 41, who lives in Overland Park, allegedly stole more than $1,500 but less than $25,000 from the John Diemer Elementary School PTO in November 2016, according to court records.

An audit of the John Diemer PTO, which was completed Aug. 24, 2017, found “serious anomalies,” according to police records.

More than $3,800 appeared to be missing from the 2016 Fall Book Fair and more than $500 appeared to be missing from the 2017 Run Club along with “an undetermined amount” from Diemer Ware.

An investigation was launched in December 2017 with the Overland Park Police Department.

After her arrest, Ridgway was released on a $1,500 bond Thursday afternoon. She is due in court Oct. 16 for her first appearance.

A Shawnee Mission School District spokesperson said the district learned of the theft and launched an investigation, which they then turned over to police.
