SHAWNEE, Kan. -- A woman has died after crashing into a utility pole and tree early Monday morning in Shawnee, police have confirmed.
Police identified her as 48-year-old Edwina Bates, from Kansas City, Missouri.
She was the driver and only person in the car.
Officers found the vehicle near 75th and Westgate just before 4 a.m. Monday. Bates had been ejected and died at the scene.
