A woman went into the Blue River Sunday morning to retrieve her dog, but the duo then had to be rescued by the Kansas City Fire Department.

KCFD was called to the Blue River near Red Bridge Road and Blue River Road just before 11:30 a.m.

According to officials, a woman went into the water to retrieve her dog, but then became stranded herself.

A good Samaritan nearby also went into the water to help the woman, and had some issues also.

The fire department then showed up and helped both women and the dog get to shore.
