The Kansas City police department is investigating a possible homicide, after a woman's body was discovered in an apartment after an early morning fire.
The fire was reported just before 6:00 a.m. in the 6900 block of NW 80th Terrace.
Upon arrival scanner traffic indicated light smoke on the corner of the two story apartment building.
The fire was quickly knocked down, but crews then discovered a woman's body inside.
Police Chief Daryl Forte is on the way, and says homicide detectives have begun an investigation.
No other information about the victim has yet been released.
