KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman was killed and a man injured in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 24-40 in Basehor early Friday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said a Honda Accord was eastbound on U.S. 24-40 at highway speeds just west of 150th Street when it struck the rear of a 2008 Victory Vegas motorcycle.
The motorcycle passenger, Tamra S. Walters, 46, of Tonganoxie, was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. She was not wearing a helmet.
The motorcycle driver, Larry S. Smith, 50, of Bonner Springs, suffered serious injuries.
The driver of the Honda, Kenneth J. Sallaz 35, of Tonganoxie, was not injured in the crash.
An investigation is underway.
