Worker electrocuted after contact with power line in Johnson County

PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. — A 48-year-old man died Tuesday after making contact with a power line at a Prairie Village construction site.

The incident happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. when a worker in a bucket truck performing contract work in the area of Somerset Drive and State Line Road was electrocuted.

Prairie Village police identified the victim as Michael T. Young, 48, of Harrisonville. He was "found deceased after an apparent accidental death by electrocution while working at a job site," according to an official release.

Crews with Evergy responded to the scene to ensure it was safe for emergency medical personnel to handle the body.
