A homicide investigation is underway after police found a man shot to death outside a home in Kansas City, Kansas, early Sunday morning.

The shooting happened around 4:30 a.m. near North 8th Street and Tenny Avenue, just two blocks south of I-70, according to police.

Jim Farmer found blood splatter on the street in front of his home and on the grass this morning.  Neighbors told him that the shooting victim ran into his side yard before collapsing.

"It looks like he got hit very close to where we're standing right now.  Then he went to the side of the house.  I don't know if he got shot again there, but there's even more blood there," said Farmer.

Investigators at the scene told 41 Action News a bullet ruptured the main artery in the victim's leg.

Police have not released the victim's name, but said he was in his early 20's.

Investigators recovered 15 to 18 shell casings from the scene. Police have not made any arrests.

Anyone with information about the shooting can call Crime Stoppers at 816-474-8477.
