Sam Simon, 59, was given three months to live in 2012. In the two years he’s survived since then, he’s decided to give his $100 million in wealth to charity through the Sam Simon Foundation.

“If you want publicity and if you want to pick up girls, cancer is the greatest thing in the world,” Simon said in an NBCNews interview.

Simon is one of three men who developed The Simpsons, the longest running sitcom or animated program in American history with 26 seasons, beginning in 1989.

He’s won several Emmy and Peabody awards for his work on the show.

Much of Simon’s charitable efforts will go towards helping animals and providing food for families.
