INDIANAPOLIS — A 5-month-old boy has died after being struck by a vehicle while sitting in his infant seat in the driveway of an Indiana home Monday evening.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 1700 block of Dawson Street just before 5 p.m. for a report of a baby that had been struck by a vehicle.

Investigators say the mother had left the infant, in his bouncy seat, in the driveway with other children while she stepped into the house. When the infant's father pulled into the driveway he didn't see the baby seat and struck the infant.

The parents immediately called for help and are cooperating with investigators.

The 5-month-old was taken to the Riley Hospital for Children where he later died from his injuries. His identity has not been released at this time.

The incident remains under investigation by IMPD.
