Kmart's payment data system has been breached, the chain's parent company announced late Friday.

Sears Holdings Corporation, the parent company of Kmart, filed a report with the Securities and Exchange Commission stating that Kmart's system was breached in early September.

The company announced some credit card and debit card accounts are believed to have been compromised, but other personal data was not hacked.

"Based on the forensic investigation to date, no personal information, no debit card PIN numbers, no email addresses and no social security numbers were obtained by those criminally responsible," the report states. "There is also no evidence that kmart.com customers were impacted."

The detection took place Thursday, according to the report.

The reported hack is just the latest breach. On Thursday, Dairy Queen announced it had been hacked
