A suspicious package found outside of the Supreme Court has closed streets surrounding the building in Washington, DC, WTTG-TV reports.

CNN later reported that two suspicious packages were found. Law enforcement plans to detonate them before re-opening surroudning roads.

DC police confirmed in a series of tweets that streets surrounding the Supreme Court building were closed due to "police activity."

The Supreme Court opened its new session on Monday. On Tuesday, the court was slated to hear arguments in case that could determine if sex discrimination in employment also applies to sexual orientation and gender identity.

Protesters were out in front of the building Tuesday morning in anticipation of the arguments.

Arguments in the case will proceed as scheduled.

More on this as it develops.
