KANSAS, CITY, Kan. — One person was injured during an officer-involved shooting Tuesday night in Kansas City, Kansas.
Police said the initial incident happened just before 11 p.m. on in the 1500 block of North 25th Street. KCK Police Chief Terry Zeigler tweeted about the shooting around 11:30 p.m.
Investigators said a man called police to report he caught someone breaking into his car. He said when he confronted the person near his car, the suspect fired a gun into the air and ran off.
Police officers responded to the neighborhood and found a person matching the suspect's description on a bicycle nearby. Investigators said the suspect pulled out a gun, at which point officers shot him.
The suspect is in the hospital and expected to live. No officers were hurt.
At this point, the police department has not released the names of the officers involved, nor the suspect injured.
KCKPD's Major Case Unit is investigating.
