A gas leak at the corner of 103rd Street and Overbrook Court in Leawood, Kansas, has caused an evacuation of nearby homes.
Fire officials say the leak is causing some gas to remain trapped in the ground.
As a result, police have closed off traffic to 103rd between Lee Boulevard and State Line Road. Homes within 500 feet of the gas leak have also been asked to evacuate.
Officers and firefighters are knocking on doors in the area to let homeowners know about the situation.
The evacuation is anticipated to remain in effect for the next three to four hours.
