POLICE: Woman killed after being struck by train

According to police, a young white female in her late teens was fatally struck by a BNSF train at 87th and Marshall Drive in Lenexa, Kansas. 

Officials say the accident occurred shortly before 4 a.m. Monday morning. 

She was pronounced dead at the scene. 

No word yet on what caused the accident. Authorities believe this might be a possible suicide but that has not yet been confirmed. 

The empty coal train was traveling northbound from Springfield, Missouri, towards Lincoln, Nebraska.

The investigation is ongoing. The victim has not been identified.
