A woman in her 70s died in a hit-and-run crash Monday night just outside Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
The victim's name was not released Monday night.
Police said the victim was a backseat passenger in an SUV that was stopped on Parallel Parkway waiting to turn into the medical center parking lot.
A second SUV driving down Parallel Parkway at a high rate of speed crashed into the back of the first SUV.
The driver of the speeding SUV got out of his vehicle and ran away. Police caught and arrested him a short time later.
Two women and a man were transported to an area hospital. One of the women, a backseat passenger in her 70s, died from her injuries. The other two people sustained minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department's Traffic Support Unit/Critical Collision Response Team (CCRT).
