The lockdown has been lifted at Olathe Northwest High School.
Olathe police said around 2:30 p.m. a janitor found a backpack with a gun in it in a bathroom. This prompted the lockdown.
Police believe they have identified the student who brought the gun to school, but they don't have the student in custody. Police said they don't believe the student is a threat.
The school district updated parents via email throughout the lockdown.
Schools that were previously on restricted dismissal can now dismiss.
