Johnson County DA: Use of force justified in officer-involved shooting in Olathe

OLATHE, Kan. - An investigation into an officer-involved shooting of an Olathe woman determined "use of force was justified under Kansas law," the Johnson County District Attorney announced on Tuesday.

Ciara Howard, 26, was shot and killed while two officers with the Olathe Police Department and a Johnson County deputy were serving a search warrant on August 23.

Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe said in a press release that his office completed the review and no criminal action will be taken against any of the officers involved. 

No police or deputies were injured during the incident. They were placed on administrative during the investigation.

The case was investigated by the Johnson County multi-jurisdictional officer involved shooting investigation team.
