UPDATE 3/17 5:30 a.m.: 119th Street reopened around 4 a.m..
A portion of 119th Street in Overland Park is closed for a gas leak.
The gas leak is outside of an old QuikTrip at 119th and Riley, according to the City of Overland Park. Overland Park police said crews were tearing down the QT when they hit a gas line. The city said the gas is venting into the atmosphere and dispersing naturally.

The crew was working around a gasoline storage tank. OP police said the hole around the tank is getting bigger and has compromised one lane of eastbound 119th.
Overland Park fire crews shut down 119th from Riley to BV Parkway as a precaution.
The City of Overland Park said Kansas Gas is excavating a safe area from which they can stop the leak.
There are no injures or evacuations at this time.
