Two men were charged with murder in a deadly shooting in Blue Springs.
Malik Duren, 17, and Mahki Hall, 18, each face first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, second-degree murder and three counts of armed criminal action.
According to a news release from the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office, the victim, Luis Cedres, was killed when he was shot during a burglary.
Officers were called to the 1700 block of SW Parkridge Drive after reports of shots being fired.
When they arrived, authorities found a deceased 46-year-old man, later identified as Cedres, in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
According to court documents, multiple people were inside a residence in the 1700 block of SW Parkridge Drive when three men entered with handguns. They covered their faces, but one victim said he recognized Hall.
Court documents say Cedres was shot during the robbery. A witness told Blue Springs police he saw two men fighting outside the residence, and one had Cedres in a headlock. Then the other man pointed a gun at him so he ran. He said he heard three more shots.
Blue Springs police saw a car fleeing from the scene and eventually stopped the vehicle north of Pink Hill Road. Two suspects fled on foot. A third man, Duren, was shot and was transported to a local hospital. Court records say at the hospital, officers recovered Cedres's wallet from Duren.
According to court documents, police later arrested Hall.
Prosecutors requested bonds of $250,000 and $150,000.
