People who live in Odessa should boil their tap water because of damage from Monday night’s storms, according to the city.
The city says the storm damaged its water treatment facility. It’s working with the state Department of Natural Resources to test the water for contamination. Until they know it’s not contaminated, people should boil their water as a precaution.
The city recommends boiling water vigorously for three minutes before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, cooking, or making ice.
The water is safe for bathing as long as it’s not swallowed.
