Independence police are investigating a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle that killed one person on Sunday night.
Officers were called to the area of US 24 Highway and Blue Mills Road shortly after 8 p.m.
According to police, an eastbound vehicle struck a motorcycle that was attempting to make a left turn from westbound US 24 Highway to southbound Blue Mills Road.
Both occupants of the motorcycle were transported to a local hospital. The female later died as a result of her injuries. She has been identified as Carol Hiskett, 29, of Independence.
The male sustained life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the eastbound vehicle experienced only minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
