A family is pleading for answers after their mother’s headstone was taken from her grave site.
Pat Spoon said earlier this week his wife's headstone was knocked off its base at the Mt. Washington Cemetery in Independence. He and his son went out to reset it. They called out some crews to reattach it, but when they got there the next day, it was gone.
Even the cemetery doesn't know where the 200-pound headstone went.
"I don't know what else to say, except for it's very sad. I was really mad at first but that mad has kind of turned to sad. There's no sense in getting mad," Spoon said.
The family is offering a $1,000 award for anyone who can help them find the headstone.
