One person is dead following a three-vehicle collision Saturday night in Independence.
Independence police say the collision happened around 6:30 p.m. and involved two motorcycles and a vehicle.
The initial collision happened between the motorcycle and a vehicle. According to police, a motorcycle was heading eastbound when it struck a vehicle attempting to make a left turn from a parking lot to westbound Truman Road.
After that collision, police believe the motorcyclist was struck by a second motorcycle that was heading eastbound. The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Both motorcyclists were transported to the hospital. The motorcylist who was involved in the initial crash died from injuries.
Police are still investigating what led up to the crash.
