A lifeguard and Independence police officer saved a teen from drowning Tuesday afternoon at a popular water park.
A city spokesman said the 15-year-old boy jumped off a diving board into a pool at the Adventure Oasis at 2100 Hub Drive.
The teen surfaced but ingested too much water. A lifeguard pulled the unresponsive boy from the pool.
The lifeguard and a police officer were able to revive the boy and he was conscious when taken to a hospital.
The water park is owned by the city of Independence but is managed by a private company. The company, Midwest Pool Management, referred calls to the city.
