KC students write hundreds of letters to local officers for ‘National Thank a Police Officer Day'

Police officers across the Kansas City metro received hundreds of handwritten thank you notes from Jackson County students on Saturday.

September 17 marked ‘National Thank a Police Officer Day’ and many young students wanted to give tribute to their local law enforcement.

Children from Lee’s Summit, Blue Hills, Oak Grove, Lone Jack and Elm Grove school districts flooded officers with both personal notes and handmade baskets of candy.

This act of kindness was made possible by the West Central Missouri Police Wives Association.
