Platte Co. Sheriffs seize 180 pounds of pot

According to a news release, Platte County Sheriffs seized 180 pounds of marijuana on Thursday.

The release states, on December 17 at approximately 6:00 p.m. a patrol deputy from The Platte County Sheriff's Office stopped a vehicle traveling Eastbound on Interstate 435 near Northwest Cookingham Drive for observed traffic violations.

During the car stop, the Deputy noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and the driver, later identified as Tamaras O'Shea Abrams, was extremely nervous.

The release states a K-9 was utilized to check the vehicle and a subsequent search resulted in the seizure of approximately 180 pounds of high grade marijuana.

Police say Abrams, 47, is originally from Arcata, Calif.

Abrams was arrested and transported to the Platte County Detention Center on suspicion of narcotics trafficking and currently remains in custody pending charges.
