Police help woman deliver baby on side of I-70

A woman was driving herself to the hospital when she unexpectedly gave birth in her car. She called 911 for help, and now the video of two Oak Grove police officers responding to the call is going viral. 

Officer Andy Anderson was the first to find the new mother on the side of an I-70 off ramp. When he ran up to the back door of the car, he imminently saw the baby blue and not breathing. 

“I roll him over I poke in his mouth he has meconium in his mouth. I sweep it out, put the towel on him, on his chest, gave him a little sternum rub and basically say a prayer,” said Anderson. 

His prayer was answered. In the video you can hear a baby cry and Anderson say with excitement, “Yup, we have a baby!”

There was another surprise in store. When Officer Robert Marshall arrived, he noticed the baby’s big sister watching the birth all unfold from the front seat. Marshall took the little girl to his car while both officers waited for an ambulance to arrive. 

“I was like in part shock and part, yeah, it’s finally happening, and you know, I get to be a part of it and it was a really moving experience,” said Marshall.

“It was amazing, it will be something I will never forget,” said Anderson.
