Former first assistant U.S. attorney Tom Beall will step up Friday to become acting U.S. attorney for Kansas as his predecessor, Barry Grissom, leaves the post to re-enter the private sector.
Beall, a Leavenworth native and Kansas State University graduate, joined the Grissom's office in 2011 and has served as first assistant U.S. attorney since 2013.

"It makes it easier for me to go knowing that the U.S. attorney's office is in Tom's capable hands," said Grissom in a press release. "It has been a pleasure working with him."
Grissom, 62, announced Monday that he would step down; he has not identified the law firm he will join.
